Past projects for our Trainees have consisted of participating as a research team member, engaging in quality improvement, and assisting in strategic initiatives with a focus on addressing disparities across our health system.

Fellows will:

  • Be interviewed by OHEI staff and paired with mentors based on common interests, career aspirations and skill set needed for the project. 
  • Undergo all required training to gain access to the Nemours network as well as continued training throughout the duration of their respective programs. 

The Health Equity Manager and Health Equity and Inclusion Program Specialist will be in close communication with the Fellows as well during this time and serve as a resource for both the Trainee and the Mentor when needed.

Additionally, OHEI will provide funding to support the Fellows and manage the administration of these stipends during their time in the program.

Stipends

  • 10-week program participants receive $5,000, paid in three monthly installments
    • June 5, 2023 - August 11, 2023 
  •  6-month program participants receive $16,000,  paid in six monthly installments
    • June 5, 2023  - December 22, 2023

Important Dates

  • Application Deadline - February 24, 2023
  • Selection Notification - April 14, 2023. OHEI will notify applicants if they have been selected
  • Mentoring relationships - May 1, 2023, will be announced at this time to allow time for any mandatory trainings, orientations, or other requirements to be completed byby the start date.
  • Program start date - June 5, 2023

By completing an application, you agree that you meet the eligibility requirements and to following the below guidelines if selected to participate in the Applied Health Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Advancement Fellowship:

As a Fellow, I agree to the following:

  • I am a U.S. Citizen or legal permanent resident
  • I am a current student of, or recent graduate from, an undergraduate or graduate program within the last 6 months.
  • I will be available Monday through Friday during normal business hours to complete the activities of the training program.
  • I will be present at the following events:
    • Opening Day Reception - on June 5, 2023
    • Applied Health Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Advancement Final Symposium - tentatively scheduled on August 11, 2023, for the 10-week training program and December 15, 2023, for the 6-month training program.
    • Completion of an End of Program Evaluation Form - tentatively scheduled on August 11, 2023, for the 10-week training program and December 15, 2023, for the 6-month training program.

Please note we are offering Virtual, Hybrid and In-Person opportunities

(option vary based on available projects) 

All trainees are expected to be available virtually or on site 8AM - 5PM ET, Monday - Friday for the duration of the program.

Virtual - 100% remote.  Login via Connect2 to get access to the Nemours Network. Must stay logged in and be available online via TEAMS chat, or email throughout the day.

Hybrid - split in-person at a Delaware Valley or Florida (based on closest location assigned) Nemours location and remote. Login via Connect2 to get access to the Nemours Network. Must stay logged in and be available online via TEAMS Chat, or email throughout the day while remote.  Must be on site as scheduled per your mentor (business casual dress is required while on site).

In-Person - Be on site as scheduled per your mentor (business casual dress is required while on site).  If not scheduled for a full week/day must be logged in and be available online via TEAMS Chat, or email throughout the day.
